OUR STORY

E.C.F. Community Center

After-School Tutoring Program

The E.C.F. Center originally began as a food pantry in 2007. Over time, volunteers recognized the significant needs of the children in the neighborhood who were struggling and/or failing academically requirements at school. In 2011, Educating Children's Future Community Center was established to help each student to master all academic standards while providing support, time, and instruction that focuses on their academic needs. Many students from different elementary schools began attending the free After-School Program, with some even driving far distances to participate. In 2018, the E.C.F. Center was relocated to Zavala Elementary School as the Home Campus.

The E.C.F. Community Center is an after-school tutoring and educational enrichment program for all at-risk, elementary age children who live in our inner-city community. The mission of the program is to demonstrate that the trend of poor student achievement can be reversed and that all students can master academic standards if they are given time, support, and instruction that focuses on their academic needs.

The E.C.F. After-School Tutoring Program provides students with tutoring/enrichment for:

  • Literacy and Mathematics

  • Daily Reading

  • Homework, Classwork, and Daily Sheets

  • Creative Writing

  • Creative Learning Techniques

  • STAAR Test Preparation

  • Two Snacks per Session

Our Mission

E.C.F.'s mission is to provide quality specialized tutoring that supports the at-risk elementary students of Corpus Christi while empowering each student to achieve academic success regardless of zip code.
